Our spellings this half term are drawing from high frequency words and those words we see commonly misspelt.  Our spelling words for the week commencing the 19th January are:  come  some said who when where were why what  with 

 Year 6 has been looking at Macbeth by William Shakespeare and today 6L have edited and improved their acted out their own version of Act 1, Scene 1 and they were brilliant.

  In science this week, we have been recapping our learning about habitats and what they are. Then, we spoke about our local habitats. We researched some key facts about these and created some amazing fact files in our books. It was great fun!

  Story focus : Super Duper You! by Sophie Henn Literacy focus : we have daily Phonics and handwriting sessions.  We have individual reading sessions, practising our blue Phonics book or reading books. Some of us have started writing captions, 'holding' the phrase and then writing it with fnger spaces - quite tricky! Maths focus:  subitising. We have been visualising dot patterns and recreating them, using a stem sentence to descirbe what we can see e.g 'I can see 2 and the top and 3 at the bottom' and " I can see 4 at the side and 1 at the top at the other side". We have also started looking at track games and how to move along the track. PE Focus:  gymnastics skills (balancing and climbing) using apparatus.  We always enjoy COOL Time (Choosing Our Own Learning) and we practise lots of skills during this time. RW were very keen to show off their building skills!

 Year 2 have been looking at money over the last 2 weeks. They have been recognising coins and notes, comparing amounts of money, as well as finding different ways to make the same amount. I wonder if you could have a go at adding some amounts together at home?
