Today, we have been celebrating Languages Day and discovering how exciting it is to communicate in different languages!  This morning, we took the register in Ukrainian , learning how to say “Hello” in a new language. In the afternoon, we travelled to France and practised our French! We learnt the French colours alongside the catchy song “Léon the Chameleon” , which helped us practise our vocabulary in a fun and memorable way.  To finish our day, we explored some of the wonderful things associated with France and decorated and labelled our own French posters . The children have worked creatively while learning lots of new words and facts. It has been a fantastic day of language, culture, music and creativity ! 

As part of languages day, Year 4 spent time learning to describe people. We watched a short video, spoke about the use of French adjectives and completed an activty. We really enjoyed our French learning.

 At our first Nature Club of the year I asked what foods for our local wildlife, mammals, birds and insects, we could find in the school grounds. The children had a great deal of excellent prior learning to share before we went out to look. There were lots of different resources for our local wildlife, from bees to deer, but our largest identified source was the late flowering ivy which was buzzing with insects busily feding and forming their own section of the food chain.  It has been fabulous to welcome the children each day with a good morning and a smile this week Our focus in Maths this week has been repeating patterns. We have been using natural resources as well as the children themselves (PE day was great for colour pattern). The children have begun to learn some sounds in Phonics and by Friday, we were having a go at blending! Fantastic effort from all. Remember, library books have been changed and are expected back on Thursday, read as often as you wish. We have introduced rhyme time to our daily timetable, it has been a great success. The children have enjoyed singing Miss Polly has a Dolly, making actions to accompany the words and role playing too. RW performed the rhyme to 1H today to which they were very impressed. The story focus has been A squash and a squeeze this week. The children have been discussing the characters in the story, the setting and explaining their thoughts as to if they enjoyed it or not. Year 6 Homework - Due 24/09/26 Reading The aim in year 6 is to strengthen fluency, increase vocabulary, and build confidence through regular practice. Reading at home as well at school helps progress and encourages consistent reading habits. Your support at home is greatly appreciated. Spellings Each week Year 6 will have a new set of 10 spellings that will be posted on the blog. Please support your child with learning these over the week. Thank you!
