Year 4 has been making viking braids using a cardboard tablet.

First they selected 7 colourful threads and attached them to a cardboard circle with 8 weaving slots. Following a simple repeating procedure, they continually repositioned the third thread into the empty slot, whilst rotating the tablet each time. Once they settled into the procedure, they quickly saw a beautifully braided rope appearing in the centre of the circle.

When the braid was long enough to wrap around their wrist, they removed it from the tablet and knotted it to make a bracelet.

They looked fantastic and the children really enjoyed making them.
