Weekly Round-Up 17.4.26 and 24.4.26

Story focus: Cottonwool Colin by Jeanne Willis and The Lion Inside by Rachel Bright.

Literacy focus: we have daily Phonics and handwriting sessions.  We now have a Literacy session where we discuss a picture, compose sentences and then write them.  We also have individual reading sessions, practising our blue Phonics book or reading books.

Maths focus: doubles; composition (including odds and evens); counting

We noticed that some Numberblocks have a flat, even top and that some have and odd block. We could also see doubles within some Numberblocks (even numbers).

PE focus: we have started a new unit called Crawl, Climb, Collect. We have to practise our bear crawls which is fantastic for developing our core strength, as well as for crossing the midline.

Understanding the World focus: baby animals (linked to Spring) and animal classification/grouping. We had a special visitor - Ziggy the Bearded Dragon - which was a lovely starting point for a discussion around reptiles, mammals, fish, birds and other creatures.

PSED focus: talking about what we find difficult and keeping on trying.

We always enjoy COOL Time (Choosing Our Own Learning) and we practise lots of skills during this time.
