Weekly Round-Up 30.4.26

story focus: Little Red Riding Hood

Literacy focus: we have daily Phonics and handwriting sessions.  We now have a Literacy session where we discuss a picture, compose sentences and then write them.  We also have individual reading sessions, practising our blue Phonics book or reading books.

Maths focus: subitising and making arrangements of 6. We also practised counting and stopping at the 'stopping number'.

Here are some of our arrangements of 6: we noticed 3 and 3, 4 and 2 and 5 and 1.

"It;s a rainbow shape...there's 3 at that side and 3 at that side"

"It's a flower! There's 1 in the middle, 3 at the top and 2 at the bottom"

"It's like a face! 3 and 3".

PE focus: we have started a new unit called Crawl, Climb, Collect. We have to practise our bear crawls which is fantastic for developing our core strength, as well as for crossing the midline.  We were not keen, but we persevered!

Understanding the World focus: recognise similarities between animals today and dinosaurs. We had another special reptile visitor: Sidney the snake! We enjoyed looking at his scales and how smooth they were. Thanks to Mrs Pitt's son Ben for bringing him in. We then looked at some other dinsoaurs and notcied that they look like some animals we see now!

PSED focus: perseverance

Music focus: pitch and tempo

We always enjoy COOL Time (Choosing Our Own Learning) and we practise lots of skills during this time.
