Weekly Round-Up 8.5.26
Story focus: Mad About Dinosaurs! by Gliles Andreae. We have been having 'Poem Time', rather than 'Story Time' this week!
Literacy focus: we have daily Phonics and handwriting sessions. We now have a Literacy session where we discuss a picture, compose sentences and then write them. We also have individual reading sessions, practising our blue Phonics book or reading books.
Maths focus: missing parts to 5; compostion of 5; composition of 6 and 7 as '5 and a bit'. We sang '5 Little Kittens' as a prompt for discussion of missing parts to 5. We made arrangements of 6 and 7 using ' 5 and a bit'.
Can you spot the '5 and a bit'?
6 is made of 5 and 1.
7 is made of 5 and 2.
PE focus: we have started a new unit called Crawl, Climb, Collect. We have to practise our bear crawls which is fantastic for developing our core strength, as well as for crossing the midline. We were not keen, but we persevered!
Understanding the World focus: what sort of skin did dinosaurs have? We looked at dinosaurs that had scales, feathers, plates, horns and spikes.
PSED focus: mindfulness
Music focus: pitch and tempo
We always enjoy COOL Time (Choosing Our Own Learning) and we practise lots of skills during this time.
