Weekly Round-Up 19.6.26

Story focus: Once There Were Giants by Martin Waddell

We have daily Phonics and handwriting sessions.  We have a Literacy session where we discuss a picture, compose sentences and then write them.  We also have individual reading sessions, practising our blue Phonics book or reading books.

Maths focus: the number system. We verbally counted beyond 20; identified the 'stopping number' (cardinal principle); counted things that cannot be seen or tagged (abstraction principle); developed strategies to keep track of what has and hasn't been counted (e.g moving into a line, moving objects as they are counted).

PE focus: In RW, Country Dancing. RJ's hall slot was being used so we practised some skills for Sports Day.

Understanding the World/PSED focus: recapping life cycles and identifying the life stages of a human (baby, toddler, child, teenager, adult, elderly person). Our story was a lovely way of showing the stages of life and we really enjoyed reading it.

We also have some special visitors: caterpillars! We are excited to watch them grow, change and transform.

We always enjoy COOL Time (Choosing Our Own Learning) and we practise lots of skills during this time.
