Half term ready.
Another week has flown by with lots of exciting learning happening.
In Phonics we have been recapping Level 2 sounds taught, spending time on oral blending and grapheme recognition. We are collectively writing a sentence or caption in our spellings sessions, the children love a silly sentence!
Our book focus has been Room on the Broom which we discovered is a firm favourite.
We carried on the witch theme for Rhyme time, exploring prosody, using our loud and quite voices and also incorporating a performance element. RW shared their Rhyme with Mr Hopegood who was suitably impressed and slightly scared at the same time. Ask your child to teach you the Rhyme, it was fantastic.
Maths this week the focus has been on the concept of 'more than' and 'fewer than'.
Our class Bears were squabbling over who had more than and fewer than of an object so the children helped and corrected them.
We have continued using music to move our bodies in PE. The children made shapes with their bodies such as a witches hat (a pointy shape), a broomstick (a straight shape) and a pumpkin (a round shape). We then played a game where we had to move in time as a whole class to the music.
Our Fine Motor activity this week has been making a spider using threading techniques and wrapping. The children then used small googly eyes to add more character to their spider.
The EYFS Team would like to say how proud we are of the children for all they have achieved over the first half term of Reception. We look forward to learning more when we come back. Have a fabulous break!!
