World Ocean Day in Year 3

Image
Today, the children celebrated World Ocean Day by learning about the importance of keeping our oceans clean and protecting marine life. We discussed how litter and plastic waste can pollute the ocean and affect the animals that live there. To explore this topic creatively, the children used recycled materials that are often found as waste and can end up polluting our oceans. They transformed the bases of plastic bottles into turtles and used cardboard tubes to create a variety of sea creatures. We were very impressed with their imaginative artwork and their enthusiasm for helping to protect our oceans. Thank you to anyone who donated recyclable materials for this activity and with other materials that were used by other year groups.  Have a look at some photos of the children's sea-themed masterpieces.

Year 4 World Ocean Day

Today in year 4, we have been busy learning all about World Ocean Day. We spoke about the importance of the oceans and how they are at risk. We also spoke about how we can protect them. After this, we create d our own art work to celebrate the day. We drew our designs in pencil then used a wax crayon to go over the lines. Finally, we used a water colour wash to make them stand out.

All money raised will go towards supporting our school and enhancing opportunities for the children. Thank you for your support with this school event, the children looked fantastic- take a look!
